I must confess. The Corvette I thought was silly.
The American cars I loved and respected
Were the Ford GT and 67 Shelby Mustang GT
And the old generation of Corvettes
Did plenty to annoy, the wasteful engine
With a chassis equivalent to a mango crate
But the sixth generation changed everything
400 horses if you chose the cheaper route
And 500 if you decide to have the super car fling
The past weekend, I put her through the paces
Flooring the throttle to experience her go
And twisting her behind without she making faces
Perfect way to spend a saturday morning
There I fell in love with her,
With her rudimentary chassis
And the brutality of her power…
The chassis is neutral, balanced on a knife edge
The steering is sadly non linear but still responsive
And the grip is phenomenal until it gives into a mad rampage
I overlooked her plastic Tiffin box interiors
The pointless slush gear box
The whole inside was most definitely inferior
But the growl on the outside roared in the air
The v8 muscle fumed without despair
And the long snarly nose paraded like it didn’t care
There She stands, the sixth avatar of Corvette..
Unfortunate a Chevrolet
But undoubtedly, one of America’s best starlets!
