I had always wanted to do this. Get my kicks on the Route 66.
Route 66 was an U.S highway initiated in 1923 and ran from Chicago to Los Angeles. Before President Eisenhower introduced the glorious interstates, the route 66 was monumental for the westward expansion of the United States. Now, it is just a memory.
Yet, of all extinct U.S Highways, this remains most popular. It makes appearances in books, songs and movies and now in my post.
I followed a small stretch of this piece of Americana with my friend and her. Along the two lane road, we saw nothing monumental. We went through small towns, shops and gas stations. But, I suppose it wasn’t about the sights.
It was about driving on American history and me getting another ‘thing to do’ done.
Freak! this wud fantastic!!
I mean isnt it great to actually live a part of the history in ur own way..!I have made extensive plans to do such things after exams…:)

So where did you pick up Route 66? In Illinois?
Upasna: Yes, It so much fun. Make sure you make a note of your plans. Often they take a backseat but they should not be forgotten.

Hi Dushyant,
Many Many Happy Returns of the day! Happy Birthday.
Hi,
some search on cars lead to your blog a few months back….
and I’ve grown to be a fan of your writing…you let emotions flow in your words ….
I was fascinated by your writing…especially the ones about going back home…probably because of the uncertainity clouding before me…
checking your blogs have become a part of my daily routine…
seems it’s your birthday… many more happy returns of the day and hope all your wishes come true in this new year…take care and keep blogging
