It’s purely textual.

To be fairly honest, when I first began with you, I never thought of us having a meaningful long lasting future. And that’s a fair statement considering I started with you one summer’s day, three years ago this time. It was in the afternoon, if I remember correctly, and I had run out of things to do. Besides, most of my friends had already told me about you. Now, three years later and fifty thousand page views later, I am beginning to think you look much better then I had previously imagined. For one, you have helped me capture most of my experiences in this country where I had arguably made a fresh start. I only need to spend half and hour with you remember it all. And your simplicity makes it easy reading, although, I suppose it is my inherent sentimentality, and sometimes, offensive punctuation that spoils the party. We have covered a lot, haven’t we? You were always ready to discuss cars with me. But, eventually, you led yourself to cover issues concerning massaged hearts, fluttering green eyes, a departed country, stressed identities and bucket loads of melodramatic rhetoric. You even served as a porthole for me to other stories out there. I enjoyed many eye drying hours reading about angry broken hearted girls, funny south Indian boys, sarcastic political views, I-phone lovers and countless American haters. Of course, some stories stuck. And so did their respective story tellers. And as much as I hate to admit, you satisfied some of my narcissistic demands. I have honestly begun liking this voluntary sense of violation of privacy and at some level, literary voyeurism. I hope we continue this take-take relationship. That you accept all my stories and my grammar, and allow yourself to be a Dushyant that only partially exists, in reality.

its true, isn’t it? we have to somehow talk about our lives to make them seem more…real…

hope everything else with you is well.

  • Shreya, I never saw it that way but now that you mention it, I completely agree. Sometimes we write our experiences just so that some stranger can perhaps finally justify that $400 air fare 🙂

Your comments are more fun then my posts!

    So true …sigh…:)

  • Maybe this thing is like heralding a bunch of new age poster gals and guys endorsing ‘expression’ and the ilk to satisfy their sense of wanting to be ‘free’ and ‘enslaved’, well, almost without actually confining to anything, except the virtual space!
    Maybe 🙂

  • u r unarguably a great writer and ur blog is a beautiful depiction of ur emotions/thoughts… m a regular on this space and have read enough of ur stuff to make just one recurring observation :)… when u compare two things u always do it like “x is better ‘then’ y” … and i get restless to tell u that the correct version would be “x is better ‘than’ y”.. since u are otherwise so perfect i hate to see this silly mistake on almost each of ur posts… and since i am a regular who doesnt want to offend u i posted this anonymously.. note the correction and feel free to delete the comment…

  • DK: Leave it to you to make a simple comment sound endearingly complicated 🙂 Never the less, well done

Anon: heheh. If anything, I should be thanking my stars for the countless other errors that missed your discerning eyes. Perhaps, its the fact that no grammar correction exists when replying to comments, or perhaps I just end up making such silly mistakes…eitherways, your comments are most appreciated. I shall try and be more careful next time. Until “then” I sincerely wish you still keep visting 🙂
