I too fell in love with the Elise when my manager showed one to me on the road here a couple of months ago!
But,why is the HP so low? Or is it the combination of torque and weight with HP which makes the difference?

I bought a new vehicle too.A 2005 Honda CRV(SUV) EX edition 4 wheel drive.
At the end of the day,I decided to buy something which I liked driving and decided a SUV was the way to go!! 🙂
You are absolutely right. To get the dynamics of the car just perfect, weight has to be minimized. The light weight chassis doesnt need a big engine and thats why lotus avoided it. The car is not about straighline prowess but overall track performance.
